A Cup of Coffee

May 21, 2008 By LakeHolidayNews

A question. Were you, John Martel, ever asked to meet over a cup of coffee?

John Martel’s answer: “That’s not true.”

From March 8, 2007. Let’s have a cup of coffee.

It really makes me mad to read this stuff. These folks on the Board just screw everything up and then play the finger pointing game to distract attention from their endless mismanagement. They are never accountable for their own screw ups but are closely watching over everyone 24/7 in the community to handout one of their stupid violations or fines. Maybe that’s why some many people do not speak out or choose to remain anonymous about the problems.

I received a letter from Lake Holiday requesting my support and it was quickly tossed in the wastebasket. They will not be hearing back from my family. 😛

What’s really sad, is that the “Alliance” has small children (4 or 5 yrs old) handing out their propaganda at the bus stop. First a grandmotherly looking woman gave me a flyer saying “this is not political” – I took it graciously and ripped it into 500 pieces as I drove to the parking spot…two mins later, her apparent husband tapped on my window and had what appeared to be his grandson hand me another – to which I picked up the pieces of the first and said to the man “no thanks, already got one”. 😆

The easy way out is to ridicule and poke fun at people trying to do their job.

It is much more difficult to roll up your sleeves and help make the situation better by making a positive contribution to the community.

I’d love to see more ‘How Do We Work This Out’ as opposed to ‘Jimmy Made a Bad Decision – Let’s All Laugh At Him’.

As property owner, we should all have a vested interest in making the Lake Holiday Community the best it can be. We don’t want to become a community like Shawnee Land!

You know the truth is the board is a joke. I’m a homeowner and a property owner. I think it is ridiculous that the board does not come up with a plan to build that section 6A & 6B out. I hope that Lake Holiday will learn from this situation regardless of the outcome, as this will not be first time it has been sued and definitely will not be the last. They should use non-buildable membership lot owner’s money for non-buildable membership lots to expand the infrastructure so everyone can enjoy this wonderful community and use the buildable membership lot money for all the other issues. Instead they rather sit around and argue over petty things. It is pretty said that they have people on the radio talking about how horrible it is to live out here. What does the board think that is doing to our property value? Why can’t we come up with a strategic plan to build Lake Holiday out? Which in return would generate more revenue. I guess the board does not want to look out for everyone but just the few…………..

The old farts at Lake Holiday really take the fun out of everything. Always worried about their property value and such, of course that is important but I hadn’t bought a home there for an investment, but rather for fun and vacation, now that is not even possible with the way they run things nowadays, Im just glad i sold. been there done that and never going back. They can keep their violations and citations and shove it.

Unfortunately, the people running this place really stink! I am not surprised that our Treasurer did not meet for coffee. The people in power never seem to do the right thing and jump from problem to problem. I agree with the previous poster about developing the membership lot sections. The Board should develop a plan, and that would be a smart thing to do. It would keep homeowner and membership lot owners happy and paying their dues. It’s just good business for everyone, but I don’t think they understand this basic business concept. They seem to create a lot of problems and sit for hours talking about ways to solve them.

I read the comments from concerned member and wonder what planet is this person from.

How do we work this out???? Take it all up with treasurer, John Martel. He’s the real problem. He didn’t meet for coffee or make any attempt to avoid going to court. He could have avoided an open discussion of the problem with the dues but elected to do nothing. Now it’s clear that the Board lacks the authority to collect dues in many sections. It’s all out in the open and no way of going back – major screwup! I am sure that as Treasurer, John Martel was fully aware of the problems with the deeds but why didn’t he make any attempt to head off this major crisis?

Like I said, John Martel is the real problem and failed to act at a critical moment. He singlehandedly dragged everyone in this crisis and put the community at risk.
